Designing a writing programme to meet the edges

Hypothesizing and Reflecting is where we create our inquiry question. It is important to create this using what your students have shown you and what you have reflected on yourself about your practice.

Once you have created your inquiry question it is important that you hypothesize what the answer/findings might be and what you think will happen.

Writing in junior classes  often falls heavily on personal narrative.

I have started to look for ways to move from this, taking into consideration the cognitive load for some learners  when asked to think of a story, draw a plan and then get down all their ideas with no real structure to learning what they are writing.

The physical act of writing is also hard for some. Holding a pen and forming letters is not automatic.

I think that our learner would benefit from a  structured writing programme in the way that they have/are benefitting from a structured literacy approach for reading. I think if I can marry the two together this will lighten the cognitive load and build a solid foundation for independent writing.
